Hier geht es um basic grammar: prepositions, split infinitives, idioms that break grammar rules, irregular verbs, “they” as a singular pronoun, modifying absolutes, subjunctive verbs, sentence fragments, subject-verb agreement (everyone, band names und collective nouns) und misplaced, dangling and squinty modifiers.
Chapter 3: Lets Get It Started
In diesem Kapitel geht es um Anfänge aller Art: starting a sentence with however, with hopefully, with because (and other subordinating conjunctions), with the fanboys (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so), with “there are” and “there is” und with a number. Und dann gibt es noch den Idiot manager alert (denn Grammar Girl ist nicht nur kompetent, sondern auch pragmatisch).
Chapter 7: Internet Intervention
Worte und Ausdrücke rund um das World Wide Web: log in versus log on, online versus on line, capitalizing “Internet”, URLs and terminal punctuation (print and online), full URLs versus abbreviated URLs, long URLs, active hyperlinks, click here and underlining, CamelCase, how to write email messages, sign-offs and signatures, how to write text messages, und citing a website.
